Rhodri slammed for yet again failing to give a view on Iraq

9.34.14am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 9th Apr 2007

Welsh Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Cardiff West, Alison Goldsworthy, has slammed Rhodri Morgan for hypocrisy over the war in Iraq.

Alison Goldsworthy said:

"Rhodri Morgan famously blundered as he failed to give his position on the Iraq War on the BBC's Question Time show. Now speaking on Good Morning Wales he asks people not to judge his and Tony Blair's Labour party for the Iraq invasion. Meanwhile Rhodri Morgan, the First Minister of Wales still won't say what his own view was!

The electorate of Cardiff West are bright enough to know that this is a man who failed to articulate the many concerns of his constituents. I have met many who have said that this time they are voting Welsh Liberal Democrat rather than Labour.

I opposed the Iraq War and lobbied the Lib Dem leadership to do the same. What on earth did Rhodri do?"

George Bush and Tony Blair led us into this war. Welsh troops are in Iraq. Why is Rhodri so unable to speak up on the issue?"
