Hardworking Councillor Jacqui Gasson is backing popular local campaigner Alison Goldsworthy

Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate for Cardiff West, Alison Goldsworthy has got off to a flying start in her election campaign.

Alison Goldsworthy said: "I have already spoken to residents across the constituency and the response has been brilliant. People all over Cardiff West are telling me they are fed up with Tony Blair's Labour party taking them for granted. And they are turning to the Lib Dems because they know we work hard locally.

Popular local Councillor Jacqui Gasson said "I'm backing Alison every step of the way. We regularly work together to highlight the need for more police in our area, and better support for victims of rape. She is an extremely dynamic candidate - our area needs an AM like Alison."

Jenny Willott, MP for neighbouring Cardiff Central said: "Cardiff West is one to watch. Labour are on the run in Cardiff, the Lib Dems are on the up, and Plaid and the Tories are going nowhere. Every indication is that Cardiff West will be the next Cardiff Central."
