The RNIB used a drving game to raise awareness of their campaigns

Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate for Cardiff West, Alison Goldsworthy has won the first race of the election campaign, the RNIB's "race off" at the party conferences.

Alison Goldsworthy said: "The RNIB visited each of the party conferences with an arcade driving game and some glasses that simulated blinding conditions. The aim of the game was to try and get round as quickly as possible and I'm delighted that I topped the league for the whole of Wales. I used to work in a computer games shop to make ends meet, I never thought my gaming skills would be needed at a party conference!"

"There was a serious message behind the game though. RNIB Cymru made it clear that one in three drivers in Wales are not getting their eyes tested regularly, even when they realise their sight isn't perfect. This is putting theirs and others safety at risk. The message is clear: people need to think of an eye test as an MOT for their eyes and book one today. An eye test isn't just about whether you need glasses, but also about preventing your sight from getting any worse or detecting potentially blinding conditions which may need immediate treatment"
