Alison Goldsworthy welcomed Charles Kennedy to Cardiff at the International Sports Village

Charles Kennedy lent his support to the Lib Dem's campaign here in Cardiff over the weekend whilst visiting the International Sports Village Development.

The Development is based on millions of pounds of investment in what used to be one of the most derelict areas of Cardiff. It will feature an ice rink, international arena and a new 50m swimming pool to replace the empire pool that was closed under Russell Goodway's Labour administration.

Alison Goldsworthy said "Charles' visit showcased an exciting development led by a Lib Dem council. The scheme is complemented by the development of affordable housing helping those on low incomes get on to the housing ladder.

I was especially pleased to be able to show Charles the plans for the new Empire Pool. The old pool was closed in 1999, with promises from the then Labour Council to build a new one. This never happened and now it is the Liberal Democrats who are delivering new facilities for Cardiff."
