Give us the police we were promised and the money we need6.30.44pm GMT Sun 11th Mar 2007 Cardiff West Lib Dems today slammed Labour for under funding police forces in our area and breaking their promise to introduce more Community Support Officers. Alison Goldsworthy, Welsh Lib Dem spokesperson for Cardiff West presented the motion, which was passed unanimously at the party's conference in Swansea today. Alison Goldsworthy said "It is criminal that our area doesn't get the money it needs and deserves from the Labour governments in Westminster and Wales. Not only do we have a disappearing police force, with fewer Community Support Officers we now have disappearing funding as well." Cllr Jacqui Gasson added "Labour were elected on a pledge to introduce 24000 extra community support officers on our streets. They have broken their promise and given South Wales Police Authority less money than even their funding formula admits we need. I've been working with Alison as part of the Lib Dems, 'We can cut crime' campaign to get more police on the beat in Cardiff West."
