Cash for honours crisis deepens - it tars all in the Labour party

7.24.31pm GMT Thu 1st Feb 2007

Alison Goldsworthy, spokesperson for Cardiff West Lib Dems has branded the cash for honours investigation into the Labour party a tar on their credibility.

Alison Goldsworthy said:

"Today it was revealed that Tony Blair has again been probed by the police over Cash for Honours. This whole investigation tars the Labour party - including Welsh Labour as dishonest and untrustworthy."

"The whole cabinet has been questioned, as have many involved in Labour's 2005 General Election campaign. The chief fundraiser for that election - Lord Levy has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, a key Blair aide Ruth Turner has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice."

Cardiff West's Labour MP, Kevin Brennan serves in Tony Blair's Government as a whip. He was Alan Milburn's PPS during the 2005 election. Alan Milburn played a key role in Labour's General Election campaign.
