Lord Chris Rennard has tipped Cardiff West as a seat to watch

Lib Dem Election Guru and party Chief Executive Chris Rennard has tipped Cardiff West as a seat to watch during a visit to the constituency.

Chris, who has masterminded Lib Dem triumphs such as those in the Brent East by-election, was meeting party activists in the Llandaff area of the constituency.

Chris Rennard said

"The Liberal Democrats are the party moving forwards in Cardiff West. Following their second place in the 2004 local elections and a substantial swing from Labour at last year's General Election I tip this as a seat to watch. Alison Goldsworthy and the team here are running an excellent campaign. There should be no doubt that this is a fight between Labour and the Liberal Democrats.

Alison Goldsworthy, spokesperson for Cardiff West Lib Dems said:

"I'm delighted that Chris was able to come to Llandaff at the heart of the First Minister's constituency. We are working hard in Cardiff West, having doubled our number of Councillors in the 2004 elections. Local residents are telling me that this time they will be backing the Lib Dems - and it is no surprise after Tony Blair and Rhodri Morgan's Labour party has taken us into Iraq and broken their promise on free home care."
